Todd has over 25 years performing experience in a variety of styles, including big band and combo jazz ensembles, classical chamber ensembles, traditional folk groups, and many original rock, experimental and instrumental bands and musical projects.  He holds a BS in Classical Guitar Performance from Frostburg State University as well as a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Towson University.  Todd is currently active composing, performing and recording for his solo instrumental project Pergola, as a solo classical guitarist, as part of the mandolin and guitar duo Duo Dyad and as a member of the traditional Irish band The Pilgrims of Deep Run.

Todd studied rock and blues with Andy Jones, jazz and classical with Scott Elliott, jazz with Paul Wingo and classical with Troy King.

He has had master classes with Paul Galbraith, the Brazilian Guitar Quartet, Rene Izquierdo, Matthew McAllister, Meng Su, Uros Baric, Allan Neave, Peter Stewart, and Irina Kulikova. Attended the Camino de Artes Guitar Workshop, in Carrion de los Condes, Spain and the Classical Guitar Retreat on the Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland.

 

Specializing in classical and fingerstyle guitar Todd's repertoire includes music from the Rennaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern eras as well as various world, folk, jazz and popular instrumental solo guitar pieces. Todd is available to provide music for your wedding, art event, private party or other special event.

Todd actively composes and performs music with his original solo project Pergola. Pergola employs acoustic and electric fingerstyle guitar and shruti box with occasional accompaniment. Pergola is inspired by many styles of music including impressionism, minimalism and various folk and world music traditions.

Teaching is equally important to Todd as being a student and a performer.  He currently maintains a teaching studio of 50-60 students per week at Mike's Music in Ellicott City, MD where he has taught since 2008 and The Four Hour Day Lutherie in Baltimore, MD since 2021. Todd's students range in age from 5 to 85 years old and he is experienced in teaching students of all levels. Todd aims to help students achieve their musical goals and to help define them if necessary.  He teaches most styles of guitar as well as beginner electric bass, cello, mandolin and ukulele. Lessons are tailored to the students needs and interests and he loves to connect with people of all walks of life through the power music.
